* IMPORTANT NEW LAW EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY *

Effective April 5, 2016

Arizona Department of Liquor Licenses and Control
800 W Washington 5th Floor
Phoenix AZ 85007-2934
www.azliquor.gov
(602) 542-5141
Effective April 5, 2016, Arizona liquor laws changed regarding acceptable forms of identification to
access alcohol.
HB 2031 (vertical ID bill): http://www.azleg.gov/legtext/52leg/2r/laws/0091.pdf
Acceptable forms of ID include an unexpired driver license or identification cards (vertical or
horizontal) issued by:
  •  Any state OTHER THAN ARIZONA,
  •  The District Of Columbia,
  •  Any Territory Of The United States or Canada
if the license includes:
  •  a picture of the licensee and
  •  the person’s date of birth.
A liquor-licensed business may not accept as the only form of identification an unexpired, vertical
(under age 21) ARIZONA driver license or identification card when the owner/presenter has been
age 21 for more than 30 days. This applies only to Arizona driver licenses and identification cards.
If you are age 21 or older and have been denied entry into a bar or denied the sale or service of
alcohol and would like to replace a vertical ARIZONA driver license, you will find complete
instructions by visiting this link to the Arizona Department of Transportation website:
http://azdot.gov/mvd/driver-services/driver-license-information/duplicate-or-renew-your-license.
For information about being issued an Arizona ID (not driver license), visit this link to the Arizona
Department of Transportation websites: http://azdot.gov/mvd/driver-services/driver-licenseinformation/
