Lower Colorado River Fishing
The Lower Colorado River in Yuma, Arizona, is a fisherman’s paradise. Anglers can explore nearly 75 miles of navigable waters between the Imperial Dam and the Palo Verde Diversion Dam in Blythe, California. The extensive backwaters and lakes formed by the construction of the Imperial Dam offer fishermen the opportunity to discover untouched fishing spots that have remained unexplored for years.
Wildlife refuges are established along our waterways; information on locations and regulations can be found at US Fish and Wildlife Services website.
The Lower Colorado River teems with a variety of species, the most popular being largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, stripers, crappie, bluegill, catfish, and sizable flatheads. The area’s record for flathead catfish currently stands at 74 pounds.
Fisher’s Landing caters to anglers nationwide, offering free launch ramps, a fuel dock and island, along with bait and tackle, ice, beverages, and much more.
Additionally, the river serves as a venue for numerous fishing tournaments. In the spring and summer, it’s common for two or three different clubs and organizations to launch on the same day, and catching 25-pound bags in the winter is not unusual.
